I'm Paula F., the breeder behind Open Hourglass LLC located in Bakersfield, CA. Having a dog in our lives is such a blessing. Our Dachshunds are members of our family and our "crew" on the ranch. They are very active and daily put their God-given hunting skills to use keeping varmints out of our fruit orchard. We strive to maintain and improve this and other traits in our dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

    Our puppies include smooth and longhaired coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include piebald, red, fawn (isabella) and tan, chocolate and tan, blue and tan, black and tan, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Getting a puppy from Paula

Puppy prices include a $400 non-refundable deposit and between $500 - $1,600 final payment, before taxes & fees.

    We had a very nice experience with Paula. She responded to our application quickly and we were able to reserve one of the sweetest pups that she had available. Since she lived quite a ways away from us she suggested that we do a FaceTime visit with her so that we could see the pup up close. When we finally picked him up he was even sweeter and more beautiful than we had imagined. Paula was very helpful and patient with us. The pup is healthy, handsome, and well-cared for. This is our first time going through Good Dog to adopt a pup and it was an excellent experience. Paula has beautiful dogs. We would definitely consider going through her again as a dachshund breeder to adopt another one someday.
