I'm Vanessa W., the breeder behind O'So Sharp Dogs located in Rock Falls, IL. My name is Vanessa, I am the owner/breeder behind O'So Sharp Poodles. I try to raise quality dogs for primarily pet homes, but also dogs that could be used for a variety of competitive dog sports and or other performance settings.
Q. & A. with Vanessa
Why did you start breeding?
When I was 14, my mom bought my a poodle mix (small grey dog in my photo). I immediately fell in love with poodles. Every time I met a standard poodle, I knew that that was going to be my next dog and that I wanted to be a breeder. My first female, Onyx passed all of her health testing and proved her worthiness as a breeding female by her success in various performance sports.
What makes your program special?
When puppies are in my home, they learn from an experienced dog trainer for the first 9-10 weeks of life. I follow puppy culture protocols and Volhard Aptitude test puppies to make sure I am placing puppies in the right home for them and you to be successful. Puppies come with a health guaranty and life-long breeder support.
What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Our puppies are standard size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include apricot, black, brown, cream, and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

About Onyx
Sharp’s Onyx (AKC) CGC TKN (UKC)
About: Onyx is a calm yet attentive black standard poodle. She is one of the smartest dogs I have ever had the pleasure of owning and training. She works very well in any setting you put her in. She has a bit of a hunting drive when in comes to small prey and excels in obedience-type commands and tricks. She lacks some confidence in new situations, but does recover quickly when worked with. She is quiet in the house, but will bark to alert me. She loves to play and sometimes boss around other dogs who are not behaving correctly. She lives in my home with my boyfriend and I as well as our two neutered male dogs (a small poodle mix and a Norwegian Elkhound). Overall, Onyx is a sweet goofy dog and is a good working girl!
Owner: Vanessa Sharp
Certifications
AKC: CGC, Novice Trick Dog, 2 Legs in Beginner Novice Obedience
UKC: A few UKC Conformation wins under our belt, working on a Conformation title
Other: Certified Therapy Dog through Bright and Beautiful
Once everything is back in full swing after CoVID, we plan to work further on her Obedience and Rally!
