Q. & A. with Melanie
Why did you start breeding?
We began training therapy dogs using shelter dogs. But many had ptsd and were not "bombproof" with kids, so we realized we needed to start breeding our own dogs so they would have the socialization and temperament required to be around children safely. We chose Standard Poodles, then added Goldendoodles for kids with autism, due to their stature. After many requests we added Golden Retrievers.
What makes your program special?
We breed dogs with excellent temperaments to work with special needs children. They also work really well with veterans with ptsd and for psychiatric service work. With our school intern/volunteer programs the dogs and puppies are exposed to a variety of people and get lots of socialization. They also learn to respond to the differences in people well. Puppies get many different experiences too
What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Our Poodle puppies include toy, miniature, and standard sizes. Goldendoodle puppies include petite, miniature, and medium sizes. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our Poodle puppies include apricot, black, and white. Goldendoodle puppies include cream, black, and merle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
