I'm Erika H., the breeder behind Painted Blue Aussies located in Herriman, UT. We are a family of 5 and breeder of AKC/ASCA Australian Shepherds and AKC Miniature American Shepherds, also known as Mini Aussies. We aim to produce dogs with stable temperament, good health and beautiful conformation. Our litters are raised in home and socialized with children of all ages.

Why did you start breeding?
Fulfilling a lifelong dream, I embarked on a journey to breed exceptional dogs, when the timing was right. I diligently searched for top-quality Australian Shepherds to lay the foundation for my program. Over time, we've carefully cultivated a lineage of happy, healthy, and beautiful dogs that we're incredibly proud of.What makes your program special?
Our goal is to create happy, healthy, and well-adjusted dogs that bring joy to their family. We prioritize temperament, ensuring our puppies are naturally loving, loyal, and playful. We also focus on health and conformation. Our Miniature American Shepherd puppies include black & white, black tri, red & white, red tri-color, black, red merle, blue merle, and red. Getting a puppy from Erika
Erika has been certified by Good Dog's screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you're ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.
Erika partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 8 weeks old.
"We spend the first 8 weeks thoughtfully socializing each puppy and exposing them to a variety of environments and stimuli. During that time, we carefully evaluate temperament, structure, and overall development. At 8 weeks, puppies have their veterinary exam and final health and structural assessments. Once we have a clear picture of each puppy as an individual, families with deposits are invited to begin the matching process."
Price
"Price is dependent on individual qualities of each puppy. Prices are set and puppies are made available for picks once evaluations are done between 6-8 weeks. A $1000 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve a puppy, which will be applied to the final price. Full payment is due before or at pickup."

This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. She’s already rocking her sit and down training, sleeping through the night like a pro, and taking crate naps without a fuss. No whining and no drama with this sweet girl! When she needs to potty, she lets us know like a polite little lady. She’s a fast learner with a soft, eager-to-please nature. Someone is going to be so proud of this girl.

Litter update on 09 July 2025 •…Here are Thalia’s updated photos! This girl is so much fun. 🥰 Thalia is hoping her family finds her soon! She’s sweet, playful, and full of personality. She is cuddly when it’s time to snuggle and confident when it’s time to explore. She’s always up for an adventure and loves the outdoors. Her merle coat is dramatic and unique, with deep blue and black tones scattered with lighter speckles. Someone is going to be so proud to bring this girl home. I’ve told her that her family is searching high and low. Here’s hoping they see her newest photos!

They just get so excited anytime we chack in on them. They were having such a great time outside, I almost hated to interrupt and tuck them in for the night. Toward the end, their momma, Autumn, came in for some cuddles after her own playtime. She thanked me for babysitting and said it was her turn for loves

Polly is a beautiful combination of our Bourbon and Cera, making her a truly special addition to our program. Born and raised here, she holds a special place in our hearts. Polly is sweet-natured and eager to please. She is always ready for a treat and loves to learn new things. She enjoys going for rides and adventures and has a natural talent and love for the show ring. Polly loves to show off and loves the game of conformation. She is playful and oh so silly, yet she is also good at entertaining herself when we are busy. Polly is friendly and sociable, and she loves meeting new people. He is easy going, flexible, willing to please, and loves to get out and go on adventures with the family. Traveling is a dream with Ken! Ken is well mannered and loved by all our canine companions here. He is kind with our other pets, and visitors. He is an all-around good boy! Ken has finished his CH title in UKC and is ready to begin his AKC show career. This boy absolutely loves being in the spotlight and thrives in the excitement and chaos ringside, and of the show ring, surrounded by dogs and handlers.

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI), Elbow Dysplasia (Preliminary)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
PawPrint Genetic Panel (Breed Specific)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
