Brandon S.

Breeder of Dachshunds

Meet the breeder

I'm Brandon S., the breeder behind PawHaus Longdogs located in Hamilton, KS. We are a small, family-based program raising miniature Dachshunds in our home- not kennel runs. Our focus is health, temperament, and ethical breeding. All dogs live with us as a family, receive full genetic testing, and puppies are raised with care, structure and early socialization.

Q. & A. with Brandon

  • Why did you start breeding?

Our journey began when we brought home our first Dachshunds, Jack and Bella, and fell in love with the breed’s loyalty and personality. With guidance from experienced mentors and a strong focus on structure and health, we chose to build a small, ethical program committed to raising well-rounded, family-raised puppies.
  • What makes your program special?

PawHaus Longdogs is intentionally small, home-based, and focused on quality over quantity. Our dogs live in the home, not kennels, and every puppy receives early socialization, structure, and genetic screening. We prioritize temperament, health, and a family-centered environment to give our puppies the best possible start.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies have smooth coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include sable, red, black and tan, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

  • Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)

Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Patellar Luxation

Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.

  • Vet Wellness Exam

A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • DNA Disease Panel

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
