Meet the breeder

I'm Emily R., the breeder behind Penny and The Pups located in Dallas, TX. Good temperaments and non shedding coats are very important to us! To achieve this, we do genetic testing on our parents, raise puppies on curriculum, and do temperament evaluations before placing puppies in their forever home. We love offering our families a lifetime of support!

Q. & A. with Emily

  • Why did you start breeding?

We started breeding as a learning process for my oldest daughter, Amelia. She wants to be a veterinarian when she grows up, and I thought this would be a fun way to give her hands on experience. Turns out, breeding is something our whole family has enjoyed doing!
  • What makes your program special?

Our puppies are raised on the Badass Breeder Curriculum. We do Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), Early Scent Introduction (ESI), and temperament testing before placing each puppy in a new home. These make our pups amazing family pets, or therapy & service dogs. We send weekly newsletters to the families on our waitlist. We educate, and prepare our families for bringing a new puppy home.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our Goldendoodle puppies include miniature, medium, and standard sizes. Bernedoodle puppies include mini, medium, and standard sizes. Poodle puppies are standard size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our Goldendoodle puppies include cream, apricot, and parti. Bernedoodle puppies include black and white and tri-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Emily is the best breeder my family has worked with! She really took the care and time to match the families with their pup. She is always there to answer any questions along the way and the time and commitment she put into raising the puppies right was above and beyond! Emily truly wants all of her pups to start off on the best foot possible and goes above what’s expected and begins crate training, potty training, and desensitization all up until your puppy pick up day. It’s so refreshing to see a breeder who truly has the animals best interests in mind…couldn’t recommend her enough!

great, provide one-time puppy play date before puppy pickup. Puppy is quite healthy, beautiful, good temper and quite friendly, everyone sees her will appraise how beautiful and adorable she is, and she grows fast too.

Emily was so nice, communicative, and sent us updates on the puppies as well as valuable information that provided us education and resources to better prepare for taking the puppy home. I let her know I was looking to train a puppy to be a therapy dog, she preformed evaluations and shared the results with me to let me know which puppy would be best equipped to be a successful therapy dog. She also set my puppy up for success by starting exposure and training at such a young age. I am absolutely in love with my puppy, she also always turns heads and gets everyone’s attention with how adorable she is. She’s so smart and easy to train. I also appreciate that Emily continues to stay in contact with us. Overall, she made this process easy for me and helped me be equipped properly to take one of the puppies home with me.
