Q. & A. with Shelly

  • Why did you start breeding?

My love for animals began at a young age, following my father on large-animal veterinary calls. I grew up surrounded by dogs and livestock, watching firsthand the dedication it takes to raise healthy animals. Those early experiences inspired me to begin breeding, and I’ve carried that passion forward ever since.
  • What makes your program special?

Our program combines decades of experience with a hands-on, family approach. We’ve partnered with the same trusted veterinary practice for over 30 years, ensuring consistent, top-quality care for our dogs. Our structured training begins when puppies are 3 days old and continues until they are adopted. Our puppies are pre-trained, not pre-spoiled.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Shihpoo puppies are tiny size. Poodle puppies are toy size. Assorted Doodle Crosses puppies are petite size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our Yorkipoo puppies are tri-color. Shihpoo puppies include brown and black gold and white. Poodle puppies include apricot, red, gray, parti, and phantom. Coton de Tulear puppies are white. Maltipoo puppies include apricot, cream, and red. Maltese puppies are white. Havanese puppies include chocolate, chocolate brindle, and chocolate sable. Assorted Doodle Crosses puppies are apricot. Havapoo puppies include chocolate and white, chocolate, red sable, red, cream, black and tan, and apricot. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

I was looking for my special puppy for some time when I found Shelly and the litter of Maltipoos that included my Boba. I knew immediately he was my choice and was grateful to have found him. As the days and weeks progressed I became even more grateful though, as I discovered Shelly’s attentiveness, obvious knowledge and care about the pups, and good advice. From sending videos and photos regularly to answering questions and demonstrating her love for the dogs, she put me at ease and made the process easy. Now Boba has been home for about a month and we love him so much. And it is obvious that he was loved and well cared for from birth. Thanks again Shelly!

We had an absolutely wonderful experience with Shelly at Petite Poo Poo Puppies! From the very beginning, Shelly was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and responsive. It was clear right away how much she truly cares about her puppies and the families they go to. She kept us updated throughout the process and made everything feel easy and stress-free. Lacey came to us happy, healthy, and so well-adjusted. She has the sweetest temperament, and you can truly tell she was raised in a loving, attentive environment with great early socialization. As a nurse, I especially appreciated the attention to health, cleanliness, and overall care. We also had a fantastic experience with the flight nanny Shelly arranged. Lacey traveled safely and arrived calm and well cared for, which gave us so much peace of mind. What really sets Shelly apart is that her support doesn’t end when you bring your puppy home—she has remained available, responsive, and genuinely interested in how Lacey is doing. Lacey has been the most perfect addition to our family. She is sweet, playful, and already so well-adjusted. We feel incredibly lucky to have found her and would highly recommend Shelly to anyone looking for a healthy, happy, and well-loved puppy!

Shelly was very responsive and knowledgeable. We were very impressed with how prepared she was for pick up day and how much she provided us to take home with our girl, Summer. She crate trains the puppies before they go which made the transition for us, and her, very smooth. We would definitely work with her again! Highly recommend.

I honestly couldn't be happier with my experience. From the first conversation to the day Milo (previously Vega) arrived, Shelly was wonderful to work with. She communicated regularly, kept me updated on Milo's progress, answered all of my questions, and made the whole process feel easy and reassuring. It's very clear how much she cares about her puppies. Milo came home healthy, happy, well-socialized, and full of love. He has the sweetest temperament, and everyone who meets him comments on what a wonderful little dog he is. You can tell he was raised with a lot of care and attention. She also provided all of his health records, food, a blanket, and toys, which made the transition much easier. Every detail was thoughtfully handled. The flight nanny she recommended was amazing as well. She kept me updated throughout the journey, took great care of Milo, and made sure he arrived safely and comfortably. Bringing home a puppy can feel stressful, especially when you're coordinating travel, but this experience exceeded my expectations. I'm so grateful to have Milo, and I would recommend Shelly without hesitation to anyone looking for a healthy, well-loved puppy from someone who truly cares about her dogs. ❤️

My overall experience with Petite Joie was wonderful. I had the pleasure of adopting the sweetest and cutest little Havapoo from them. Shelley the breeder was friendly, very knowledgeable and prompt with responses to my questions and concerns. She prioritize health, temperament, and socialization over profit, doing her due diligence to ensure I would provide a good home. She provided me pertinent documentation and information needed for my pup. Furthermore, I found Shelley's home to be clean and adequate for raising the pups indoors. So very glad for Shelley and Petite Joie for uniting with my new love!
