Meet the breeder

I'm Sonya P., the breeder behind Pfeiffer Family Aussies located in Orangevale, CA. With a focus on great temperament and health, we breed lovable Australian Shepherds for companion and sporting homes. We decided to start a responsible, in-home breeding program in order to produce quality herding dogs that also fit into a home setting.

Q. & A. with Sonya

  • Why did you start breeding?

Ever just look at your breed and want to make them the best they could ever be? To change and improve upon the standard? We got in to canine husbandry of Aussies because of our love for our heart breed and a desire to change and improve the standard of them. By the provision of having structurally sound and good temperment dogs for the home and not just for sport, work and show.
  • What makes your program special?

Our aussies are special because they are raised within the home and underfoot!. They are exposed to and socialized within homelife chaos which includes other adult dogs, cats, chickens, kids and whatever life throws. We include our adult dogs in day to day activities alongside their pups; they are ‘spoiled’, well loved and well traveled dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include blue merle and black tri-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Sport is going like crazy and the life of any party. He is 11 weeks now and he has all of us wrapped around his once little paw. Of course he is the master of his backyard. He will be out of quarantine in one more month once he completes his vaccines. Can’t wait.
