Meet the breeder

I'm Denise D., the breeder behind Pink Lotus Kennels located in Oklahoma City, OK. We are conservation breeders promoting the Russian Tsvetnaya Bolonka in the USA. Our dogs have guaranteed genetic health. Our goal is to promote the Russian Tsvetnaya Bolonka; small dogs that are very intelligent, loving, and a great companion for entire family. We are primarily a show/exhibition breeder, however, we have the occasional puppy or retired show dog looking for a new family- and that is where you come in. Our dogs live in our home. They are our pets first and show dogs second. As show breeders, we sometimes look for a better pet home than we can provide for that individual. We believe firmly in health testing with certifications from the OFA as well as DNA health testing. All of our puppies/dogs placed will come with a contract that gives in detail what you can expect from us as breeders and what we expect from you. We do not release puppies to new homes before 12 weeks of age. We believe in the Puppy Culture protocols and strive to give our dogs the best beginning as possible.

Q. & A. with Denise

  • Why did you start breeding?

My parents bred dogs for hunting when I was a child, so it somewhat just came naturally when I wanted a new show dog. My dad was also a great mentor, who believed that only well cared for healthy dogs that meet the written standard and gain a Championship title should be bred.
  • What makes your program special?

As a Breeder of Merit, I am very selective when I decide to breed and where puppies I produce are placed. I spend hours studying pedigrees and researching health as well as testing for results that will allow me to hopefully find a good match for my girls. We also look for a pair that meets or exceeds the breed standard with Championship or CM titles. This giving me others opinions of our breeding dogs. This is all to do our best to produce healthy, well structured Bolonka that meet or exceed the AKC Standard. When age appropriate we test and OFA certify all of the Bolonka that will be staying in our breeding program. At the recommendation of the RTBCA they are certified for their Patella, Eyes & Heart PRA-cd. We feel that puppies should be raised in a home with round the clock attention. Using early Neurological stimulation starting at 3 days. We expose our puppies to a wide variety of stimuli that helps them become well rounded balanced companions. They are started on house training on artificial turf later learning to use the outdoors. We do not use Potty Pad training as it is our belief this teaches a puppy to potty on carpet. With the abundance of coat our Bolonka have we start grooming at a very early age, with bathing, brushing, nail trimming weekly. This helps the puppy become used to the idea and it is less stressful as they go through fear periods as well as easier for the new family to care for the coat. All our puppies are implanted with a AKC ISO lifetime prepaid microchip for identification and the chip number is linked to the AKC registration for identification. All of our Imports are AKC DNA for parentage.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include red, wolfgray, blue, cream, silver, gray, fawn, brown, and black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
