I'm Judy, the breeder behind Piper’s Tree Dachshunds located in Shelton, CT. I am a small home breeder who loves the dachshund breed since childhood. I responsibly breed to the dachshund standard and quality for healthy, good temperaments and happy family pups. Our AKC adults are health tested and have OFA/CHIC certifications. I thoroughly screen all applicants to make sure my pups go to only the best appropriate homes.

Getting a puppy from Judy
Judy has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.
Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $2,000 - $3,200 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“Also included is a two year congenital health guarantee, vet check and DHPP vaccine at 8 weeks, any appropriate dewormings, vet inserted microchip (buyer pays one-time lifetime registration about $20), 30 days free Trupanion pet insurance, goody bag. Pups sold as pet only AKC ltd registration with spay/neuter contract. No deposit until Application review and if approved. Deposit Refundable only if your approved application is rescinded by breeder at breeder discretion. Deposit Transferable to next litter with approved application and at breeders discretion.”

Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
PRA, Cone-Rod Dystrophy 1 (PRA-crd1), DNA Disease Panel
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
