Our dogs can be used as pets and they are great for it or as working dogs as they come from one of the most profound working lines in the U.S., Satus Stock Dogs out of Washington. Why did you start breeding?
We didn't plan to start breeding but, after our first litter we realized that we enjoyed making other families happy and get to experience to loyalty from the border collie breed.What makes your program special?
Our dogs are the perfect blend of workability and pets. They thread the needle of being able to be both. Our dogs are trained regionally by a man that has been in the industry for over 30 years. Those very same dogs have the ability to just be your best friend and love you if that is what you prefer.What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Dachshund puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our Border Collie puppies have rough coats. Dachshund puppies have longhaired coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our Border Collie puppies include black and white and blue merle. Dachshund puppies include red and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.
Getting a puppy from Darby
Darby has been certified by Good Dog's screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you're ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.
Darby partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 6 weeks old.

"This price includes your puppy being de-wormed, vaccinated, vet health check, and socialized. They will be ready for their new family on all fronts. All deposits remain the same regardless of overall price of the dog."

Hip Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered), Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Examination (rDVM, not registered with OFA), Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Congenital Deafness (BAER, registered with OFA), Vet Wellness Exam
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
