I'm MaryAnn W., the breeder behind Playful Papillon's located in Foresthill, CA. We breed and show our dogs out of a love for and dedication to the protection and betterment of the breed. We are dedicated to always having responsible policies when it comes to breeding, training, and rehoming our pups.
Q. & A. with MaryAnn
Why did you start breeding?
My name is MaryAnn Wik and I live in Northern California, my love for papillons started in 2009. I would go to the drag races with Bill and I see people with their little dogs of various breeds hanging around. So I thought it would be fun to get a small dog to hang out with me at the track too! I started researching a number of breeds and came across these beautiful little toy dogs called papillons. I couldn't believe I had never heard of them before! They were described as a healthy breed, wash and wear, well on farm or in an apartment/home, so with all that going for them I had to research more on these beautiful little creatures. Next thing I knew, I found Skittles. Papillons are such loving, fun dogs with great temperaments and they have exceeded their description that attracted me to them!
What makes your program special?
Breeding to the standard or better but more importantly is to make sure they live to the full lives they can give someone love and also get that love for many years. With this in mind I do my health testing to the best of my ability to help achieve this goal. We really miss our babies when they go over rainbow bridge so this is my goal. Playful and loving personalities are also a must.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include white and black, red white and sable, black red and white, and white black and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

MaryAnn is so wonderful. She was so kind, professional, and supportive during our time bringing our new family member, Arya, home. She is a beautiful little Teacup Papillion, healthy, happy, and a little sassy :). She is a wonderful addition to our family and has a lovely disposition. I wish my HOA would allow me to have more pups in our home. I would definitely go back to MaryAnn and bring more brothers and sisters home for her to play with.

I picked up Lilly Leigh on Friday. She and her siblings, mama and friends, along with her breeders, evacuated from the Mosquito Fire area. She is just fine and adjusting. She loves playing with toys, especially her donut. She has met the whole family but she is my shadow.
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
