Meet the breeder

I'm Leigh M., the breeder behind Pleasant Grove Aussies located in Crockett, TX. "We consider all our Australian Shepherds as part of our family and treat them accordingly. They are allowed to live inside the house, climb on our furniture, and even sleep with us in our beds. Before breeding, we conduct genetic tests to detect any diseases that may affect Aussies. We cherish the bond with our Aussie families and love to keep in touch with them. When you adopt a pup from Pleasant Grove, you become a part of our family.".

Q. & A. with Leigh

  • Why did you start breeding?

In 2010, we rescued a standard Aussie. Although she required a lot of work, we fell in love with the breed- so much so that we decided to get an Australian Shepherd puppy for each of our 3 children. Later, I discovered the Toy Aussie and decided to breed them myself. After searching for the perfect male and female, I began breeding in 2019 to improve the breed and bring joy to families.
  • What makes your program special?

"I am a responsible breeder who carefully plans each breeding, often sacrificing sleep to ensure the safe arrival of each puppy. I devote weeks and even months to closely monitoring and training the puppies, ensuring they are well-prepared to join their furever families when the time comes."
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our Miniature Australian Shepherd puppies include tiny and miniature sizes. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our Miniature Australian Shepherd puppies include blue merle, black tri, red tri, and red merle. Toy Australian Shepherd puppies include black, red, blue merle, and red merle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Leigh is amazing, sent photos of our puppy as she’s growing up. You can also tell that she took very good care of her puppies and dogs. Pick up was super easy and very heartwarming. Our puppy is the perfect fit for our family, Loves to cuddle, but keeps up with playing and the other dogs. We couldn’t have asked for a experience.I would definitely recommend Leigh and her puppies to anybody.

Leigh was so very easy to work with! She was very accommodating and cares so much about her pups and who they go to. We fell in love with Jasper when we saw him on the website but were concerned how he would get along with our older dog since she's an only child. Leigh was very understanding and told us if there was ever an issue she would be happy to take him back if the two of them really were unable to work things out- this is how you know that a breeder truly cares about their dogs. That being said, Leigh takes care to socialize her pups well from the very beginning, which is so important. Jasper is an amazing pup, he is quick to learn and so loving, we cannot imagine our life without him. It's clear from the very start that Leigh provides a good base for owners to start with, Jasper was well behaved and had a great foundation to build upon with training. We can't imagine our lives without our little boy and are so happy to have found Leigh through Good Dog!

We are so fortunate to have found Leigh and Pleasant Grove Aussies. From Day 1 she answered all of our questions, shared updates of Ellie with us and coordinated pickup for a date that was convenient for us. She provided all vet documentation, a blanket and a bag of puppy food for us to help adjust quickly. Ellie has the sweetest disposition and was puppy pad trained when she came home. Leigh made sure to expose Ellie and her brothers to different environments as they grew, and you can tell that she was raised with lots of love and attention. We highly recommend Pleasant Grove Aussies if you are looking for a great puppy to join your family. Thank you, Leigh!

Leigh was the most wonderful and personal breeder to work with. She kept me updated with pictures and even started calling my sweet baby by the name we had chosen for her so she would get to know it. Leigh treats her dogs like family and makes sure that they go to a good home that will do the same. Even after they are gone she likes to stay up to date with photos of how they are doing. Going through the process with Good Dog was a very pleasant and easy experience. Would definitely recommend.
