I'm Brenda H., the breeder behind Pleasant Woods Miniature American Shepherds located in Cowlitz County, WA. We take pride in breeding quality puppies and strive for perfection in health, sound temperament. They are raised as family! Our priority is making sure our dogs and puppies get the best care, which includes health testing on our parent dogs, all appropriate vet care, thorough socialization, and - of course - lots and lots of love!

Why did you start breeding?
We decided to start a breeding program because of our passion for these dogs. We have loved the entire process and are so glad to be able to provide other families and individuals with Aussies that will bring tons of love and joy into their lives.What makes your program special?
We cherish each of our dogs and puppies, and we do everything we can to make sure that they get the best lives possible. That includes everything from choosing healthy parents with good temperaments, to proper socialization and daily care, to placing them in loving homes with wonderful families. We strive to provide each of our puppies and their families with a truly positive experience!Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Multiple Drug Sensitivity (MDR1), PRA, Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRA-prcd), Hereditary (Juvenile) Cataracts (HC; JC)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
