Meet the breeder

I'm Susan D., the breeder behind Poetry’s Bend Belgian Sheepdogs located in Owego, NY. Our goal for our breeding program is to produce beautiful, healthy and stable Belgian Sheepdogs that exude strong Breed Type. Our program is based off of well-rounded, Champion and sport-titled parent dogs whose puppies will make positive contributions to their line and to the families who love them.

Q. & A. with Susan

  • Why did you start breeding?

I have always wanted to be a breeder. I grew up in horses and worked for a breeder in high school. I stumbled on the opportunity to get my foundation bitch from excellent lines and saw an opportunity to develop my own line.
  • What makes your program special?

I have great mentors. I work collaboratively with a handful of experienced breeders far more knowledgeable that myself who continually help shape me as a newer breeder. I have had two litters with my foundation bitch. I have kept one from each litter ages 5 & 3 years old now. These are the two I will be breeding in 2025 & 2026.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
