Meet the breeder

I'm Tara D., the breeder behind Poskin Lake Springer Spaniels located in Almena, WI. We commit ourselves to preparing each one of our puppies to thrive in their new homes, and we enjoy working with their new families so that they can raise their beloved companions with confidence!

Q. & A. with Tara

  • Why did you start breeding?

After having 2 Labrador Retrievers with many medical issues, we decided to go a different route and get an ESS. As our kiddos get older, they are wanting to hunt and bring their very own furry friend with them. So naturally, because we are running out of dogs, we decided to start breeding our own, and this is where our lives changed forever!
  • What makes your program special?

As a nurse, I find genetics, DNA, & personality traits intriguing. Especially after learning about all of the preventable issues that our Labrador retrievers had, I find it frustrating that we did not do our research beforehand. As a responsible breeder, I strive for the healthiest, happiest pups and am very transparent with our families. Our dogs are our family pets and live with us in our home.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include liver white and tan and black white and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
