I'm Amber P., the breeder behind Powell’s Australian Shepherds located in Mogadore, OH. We're a family-run, home-based program striving to produce socialized, beautiful Aussies that are started on basic training. We focus on the proper development of all our puppies because we know that each one is unique and deserving of undivided love and attention. We take pride in the time and dedication we give to every litter. We look forward to connecting with you!
Q. & A. with Amber
Why did you start breeding?
I have always had a love for animals and as I've grown and learned more about aussies I fell even more in love. I enjoy learning all about the genetics and lineage and educating others as well.
What makes your program special?
All of our dogs are raised in our home and get all the love and care they need to thrive. We ensure all of our dogs are healthy through routine vet visits and being mindful on what/who they come into contact with.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black, red merle, blue merle, and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Good level
Powell’s Australian Shepherds reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Australian Shepherds.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Brucellosis
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
