I'm Sara F., the breeder behind Prickly Pear Kennels located in Mesa, AZ. We have centered our entire breeding program around 3 things: structure, health and temperament. A lot of breeders will claim that but the proof is in the pudding, you can tell when that is true. Our puppy families will give testament to the fact that our babies are once in a lifetime additions.
Q. & A. with Sara
Why did you start breeding?
I have been a huge animal lover since I was a kid! My mom was NOT a huge animal lover so I was very involved with our local shelters. I was always fascinated with the number of different breeds of purebreds and their purposes and was immediately drawn to Frenchies! It was always my goal to be able to have one one day. After I added my first Frenchie, I was obsessed!
What makes your program special?
Our babies are raised in our home, right in our living room, around our family and all the chaos that comes with that every day! They are very well socialized. We have implemented many puppy culture socialization techniques, early neurological stimulation and lots of new toys, sounds and textiles to best prepare them to be confident, good members of society when they leave here.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and guardian homes.

Sara was great, she met me half way to pick up the puppy. Gave me some great starter supplies. She has been helpful with other tips to help me get adjusted to having a new puppy! We are so happy with our new addition to our family! We have named him Bruno, he is adapting really good to his new home! He is such a lover and has a wonderful personality! Thank you Sara!
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
