I'm Rose P., the breeder behind Prieto Shih-Tzu's located in Long Beach, CA. With 35+ years of breeding experience and 20+ years raising Shih Tzus, we now specialize in AKC Champion Bloodlines. Based in Long Beach, we offer healthy, screened puppies in a variety of colors—lovingly raised to become exceptional family companions.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    I began with a love for Chihuahuas in my early 20s, owning them as pets before the internet era. That passion grew into a small breeding program focused on quality and care. As I gained experience, I transitioned to other breeds and eventually found my true passion in breeding Shih Tzus—dogs I’ve loved for decades.

  • What makes your program special?

    I’m a full-time breeder with strong ties to the California breeding community, working closely with trusted vets and groomers. Over the past 20 years, I’ve placed beautiful, healthy puppies in loving homes across the U.S. Today, I specialize in AKC Champion Bloodline Shih Tzus with pedigrees spanning generations.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include tricolor, chocolate, black, white, silver gold and white, black gold and white, black and white, and brindle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Rose

Rose has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

Rose partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 8 weeks old.

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $2,000 - $3,000 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“Price includes a 1-year health guarantee (full refund for genetic issues), AKC registration, vaccines, deworming, microchip info, vet records, food, AKC folder, and lifetime support. A $500 non-refundable deposit holds your puppy until 8–9 weeks old, after vet clearance and first shots. This removes the puppy from the market and secures your reservation.”

This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase.
