I'm Kathleen F., the breeder behind Proud Lake Dachshunds located in Milford, MI. I am an AKC only breeder of miniature longhaired dachshunds. I show my dogs to prove they meet the breed standard for structure and temperament, and health test using breed specific DNA and health tests (currently OFA eyes, hearts, and patellas). Sound structure is very important to me, so that your puppy will be able to move freely and easily throughout his or her lifetime. I also make it a priority to breed to lines that don't exhibit allergies or seizures, both of which are common in the breed and can cause a lifetime of misery for the dog and owners.

Kathleen is Great! My dog is Wonderful ...I love him so much. Kathleen responded to my emails quickly and took time to learn about my family. I think she is very through and really knows the breed. Today I received the package with all his records. Thank You Kathleen your my hero.
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
