I'm Megan H., the breeder behind Purelyshihtzupups located in Lakewood, OH. We breed high-quality Shih Tzus. We love what we do and are committed to producing well-bred, healthy puppies for loving homes. We raise our litters in our home to help set the foundation for happy and confident puppies to transition well into their forever homes.   • Why did you start breeding?

    I got into breeding when my son was born four months early and I had to find some type of job that I could do from home. I wanted it to be something I loved and enjoyed, so I thought about breeding dogs. I already knew I had to pick a dog breed that was good with kids, didn’t shed, & was small because my son was coming home from the hospital with a trach, feeding tube and a ventilator.

  • What makes your program special?

    My program is special because my dogs &puppies are special to all of us! We truly enjoy each and everyday we spend with our “family” and I couldn’t ask for a better job because I can spend time with my dogs and my kids all at the same time! I want each puppy to find their perfect people. I fall in love with each puppy and it’s important to give him or her the best life possible !

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include tricolor, chocolate, black, and blue. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

  • Hip Dysplasia

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)

    Breeder was more than amazing. She stayed communicating. Girl(insert disney princess name) turned out to be the best pup anyone could ask for. She came to me able to pee on pad, she listens, she likes walks and stroller rides and plays a good game of fetch. When I tell you I was impressed I was super impressed. Megan has done better and been nicer than alot of small dog breeders.
