I'm Wendie H., the breeder behind Rae’s Dapper Dachshunds located in Somerset, PA. Our mission is to raise healthy, happy, adorable Dachshund puppies and connect loving families with their new best friend! Our puppies are raised with love in our home, and we strive to help each one grow up with confidence so they are ready to thrive with their new families. They are affectionate, intelligent, and cute as can be!

  • Why did you start breeding?

    I got my first Dachshund 24 years ago And just fell in love with the breed. They are loyal but stubborn and sweet as can be. Every single puppy every single time is special!

  • What makes your program special?

    I have adopted several dachshunds, bring them home, and most of them run around with no clue what common commands, where to potty, and very little social skills . When my pups leave they are ready for their next adventure. They are trained on pads (I don’t put on grass until vaccinated) They are very socialized as I am with them 24/7 They know common commands and respond very well. They know how to use doggie door, ramps, and much more. Getting them ready makes the transition more enjoyable for the pup and his/her new owner.

  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

    Our puppies include miniature and standard sizes. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

    Our puppies have longhaired coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include piebald, cream, red, chocolate, brindle, black and cream, chocolate and cream, black and tan, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Wendie

Wendie has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.

Puppy prices include a $650 non-refundable deposit and between $1,850 - $3,350 final payment, before taxes & fees.

All puppies have Champion Bloodlines and come from health tested parents who were hand selected to be a part of our program based on quality and conformation. The pet fee is $3000.     Wendie really cares and is very knowledgeable about her dachshunds! She was very responsive and accommodating since we had a 5 hour drive to pick up Hattie. Wendie was completely right, Hattie is everything perfect. I can't imagine having any other puppy! She fits right in to our home and wanted to be friends with our 2 huskies and 2 cats immediately. Hattie is very smart and catches on quickly. She is definitely brave, has courage, and mostly potty trained after 2 weeks. Thank you for the personalized puppy bag! Hattie loves her toys and blanket. The leash, collar, food, and water/food dish were/are very appreciated! We loved meeting the moms, dad's, and puppies! At Wendie's suggestion, we did get some ramps for our furniture. I had a miniature dachshund at one time and decided it was time to get another! I'm so happy we found Wendie! We will definitely contact her again when it is time for another one!     Wendie was very communicative and compassionate. She's very knowledgeable, and she made us feel welcome and comfortable.     Wendie was such a pleasure to work with, she truly cares about her animals and you can tell it throughout the whole process. The gift bag she gave us with the customized items was so special and just the cherry on top. The dog himself ‘Levi’ is perfect, he was pad trained from the first day we got him and very receptive to everything.     Wendie of Rae’s Dapper Dachshunds was a joy to work with. This was my first time getting a pet that wasn’t a rescue, and Wendie was patient and kind as she answered all of my many questions. She even sent our pup home with an adorable goodie bag with everything we needed for the first few days. Matilda (our newest family member) is healthy, spunky, and overall just a great pup.
