I'm Heather R., the breeder behind Reeds Sunset Acres located in Burt, MI. We treat our dogs and puppies like family, and we give each pup all the loving care that we can to prepare them for their forever homes. We are proud of our program and look forward to helping you find your next furry family member!

Why did you start breeding?
As a child my mom breed puppies so it was something I was around. In 2008 we started breeding Labs we had one litter then had difficulty getting a second litter and stopped breeding. In 2017 we decided to start breeding again due to having a quality female. This is when we met Steve Karp from Mi Elite Labs and he has been mentoring us & allowing us to use his Males for our breeding program.What makes your program special?
In our breeding program we make sure that we are breeding intelligence, good temperament and great health. We genetic test all our breeding dogs for the most common hereditary diseases and complete OFA. Puppies are raised in our house with us till 4 weeks and go to larger pen and brought in the house, taken for walks, learn to follow, swim(summer only) and socialize with different people.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black and yellow. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
DNA Disease Panel, PRA, Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRA-prcd), Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC), Centronuclear Myopathy (CNM), D Locus (Dilute) DNA test
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
