Meet the breeder

I'm Mona C., the breeder behind Ridgestar Aussies located in Weatherford, TX. For over twenty-five years we have been devoted to the Miniature Australian Shepherd breed and are proud members of MASCA (Miniature Australian Shepherd Club of America). Our breeding philosophy focuses on temperament, structure, type and sound genetic health. This means that we test our breeding stock extensively and uphold the MASCA Breed Standard as we strive to produce the healthiest and highest quality puppies for your family.

Q. & A. with Mona

  • Why did you start breeding?

In the summer of 1997, our daughter was showing Quarter Horses and we were continually on the road. We got to spend time with a couple of Miniature Australian Shepherds and found them to be irresistible. After researching and asking a lot of questions, we decided that this was the breed for us. Ridgestar Aussies was born from our love of this small breed and our desire to be involved, in a positive way, in their evolution.
  • What makes your program special?

Our belief at Ridgestar Miniature Australian Shepherds is that producing excellence in a puppy begins with careful consideration in every breeding we undertake. To ensure future generations of mini Aussie temperament, structure, and type, our breeding dogs all undergo extensive health and genetic testing which are then used as part of the decision-making process that we go through when considering a cross. All of our puppies are home-raised and loved, with careful attention given to their development and socialization, on a day-to-day basis.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our Miniature Australian Shepherd puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our Miniature Australian Shepherd puppies include blue merle, black tri, red tri, and red merle. Australian Shepherd puppies include red & white, black & white, red merle, blue merle, black tri-color, and red tri-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Mona was very quick to respond and had an awnser to any question I could think to ask! Not only are you getting a great dog when you get a puppy BUT you're also getting great and knowledgeable advice and information. This is my second dog from Mona and I know I will have more in the future! They both make great pets and family members but are also happy to try any sport or activity I though at them too!
