I'm Tatum E., the breeder behind Ritchie Road Labradors located in Brantwood, WI. We do our best to make sure our dogs are healthy, bred responsibly, and are raised with care (and lots of love). As a result of our efforts, we’re confident our puppies will become a beloved member of your family and your best hunting companion. We hope they fill your life with joy!
Q. & A. with Tatum
Why did you start breeding?
When we were ready for our next duck dog, we did lots of research on pedigrees, bloodlines, breeds and their performance, temperament, and most importantly, their health. We are so thankful to have a truly amazing dog, and we want to continue that bloodline to see all the amazing things these pups can do!
What makes your program special?
We don't breed for just one thing (I.e. looks or abilities). Our dogs are versatile. From laid back at home, to absolute beasts in the field, and gentle as therapy companions.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies are yellow. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Brucellosis
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
DNA Disease Panel, PRA, Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRA-prcd), Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC), Centronuclear Myopathy (CNM), D Locus (Dilute) DNA test
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
