I'm Joseph H., the breeder behind River Trail Kennels located in Martinez, GA. Our dogs are hand raised in our home and bred for health, intelligence, and temperament. My goal in breeding is to maintain the integrity of the breed with a focus on health, performance and a biddable pleasant nature. Our breeding program originates from hand picked lines imported from the UK.

What makes your program special?
We focus on quality, not quantity. Unlike larger breeders, we have 2 litters per year. All of our adults are a happy, healthy, and functioning part of our family. They live with us in the house, and are part of all of the adventures and activities of life alongside our children. Likewise, all of our puppies are hand raised, played with daily, and handled with love!What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include red and white, black and white, and liver. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?

Parent health testing
Excellent level

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
Vet Wellness Exam
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Acral Mutilation Syndrome (AMS), Familial Nephropathy, Cocker Spaniel Type, PRA, Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRA-prcd), Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
