I'm McKenzie K., the breeder behind Riverine Retrievers located in Viroqua, WI. Here at Riverine Retrievers, our goal is to raise the highest quality Labrador Retriever puppies possible. All of our dogs are AKC and UKC Registered. Each of our breedings are looked at in great detail to assure that our puppies will be of great quality and meet the breed standard temperament.

Why did you start breeding?
My stepmom introduced our family to our first well-bred Labrador Retriever when I was 8 years old and sort of opened a door for me. Being she’s a veterinarian, I had a lot of hands-on experience with the process of breeding and whelping from a young age. As I grew older I started studying pedigrees more and more and when I bought my own home I decided to start my own program.What makes your program special?
We really care about our dogs and puppies. We make sure to do all the breed-specific health testing and make sure each dog has the correct temperament before we choose to breed. We also raise all our puppies using a lot of the puppy culture protocols which seem to produce more happy and well-rounded puppies.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black, chocolate, and yellow. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Shimmer RLR's A Bit of Shine "Shimmer" is a beautiful Chocolate Bench/ Show bred Labrador Retriever. Shimmer is bred by us here at R Little Retrievers and is out of our Champion Show Bitch Holly. Shimmer is a great dog and we have enjoyed watching her mature and are very proud of her. Though she is Bench/ Show bred she loves to retrieve! About Nyufa
Irislav Nobel Queen (Nyufa). Nyufa is a beautiful Black (Yellow Factored) Bench/ Show bred Labrador Retriever who came to us all the way from Ukraine! Nyufa was brought over by us to hopefully show in conformation, unfortunately as beautiful as she is she just isn't into showing. She trains like a dream at home, but once we get to classes she gets bored easily. When in the show ring she goes through the motions but you can tell it's truly not her thing. It's difficult to get her ears up and for her to look like she's out there enjoying herself. Outside of the show ring, Nyufa has quite the personality! She wants to be the center of everyone's attention and has this "look at me" attitude. She is such a happy go lucky dog! Nyufa is also an amazing retriever! She will play fetch for hours! She loves the water and we plan on pursing formal field work with her in the near future. Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Brucellosis
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
D Locus (Dilute) DNA test, PawPrint Genetic Panel (Breed Specific)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
