I'm Mary J., the breeder behind Riverrun Collies located in Loveland, CO. We are striving for genetically healthy, balanced and beautiful dogs. Each breeding is carefully planned as we select the finest individuals of superior breed type to use in our next generation. With this practice of using only quality stud dogs from the very best of top bloodlines, we have been consistent with the overall "balance" of our collies which includes correct Collie type as defined by our collie standard, sound structure and outstanding movement, beauty and elegance. We have also been consistent with the wonderful temperaments and intelligence in our collie puppies which makes them do so well in everything.
Q. & A. with Mary
Why did you start breeding?
In the early 90's, we made the decision to add another collie to our family. We met a wonderful breeder, Peg Vohr of Mariner Collies in Massachusetts. She offered us a beautiful AKC Champion male, CH. Mariner Fireworks, for our daughter Julia to learn to show in Junior Showmanship. So many collie breeders stepped up to welcome us into this crazy world of showing and raising collies.
What makes your program special?
We are extremely proud of the accomplishments of our collies. We have been honored along the way with some prestigious awards and wins in AKC conformation and performance. We are honored also to have a number of our collies being certified as therapy and service dogs. Loyal, loving, outgoing and always making you laugh - Riverrun Collies are "Something to Live By".
What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our puppies have rough coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include sable merle and white, blue merle and white, sable and white, and black white and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
