I'm Marla R., the breeder behind Riviera Dobermans located in Santa Clarita, CA. I work hard to breed healthy, happy puppies, and I take great pride in my breeding program. I am purposeful in everything that I do regarding my dogs, which includes careful selection of breeding dogs and extensive health testing. My goal is to produce healthy dogs with great temperaments that are exemplary representations of the breed.
Q. & A. with Marla
Why did you start breeding?
I started breeding to not only preserve my own phenomenal bloodlines but to improve this breed with each litter and do my part to ensure the well-being of these dogs for generations more to come. Doberman Pinschers are an incredible breed, and I am dedicated to producing the wonderful qualities I have found in my dogs. They excel both in and out of the show ring.
What makes your program special?
When I bring a life into the world, I make sure it gets the best start possible. This includes proper health care and socialization for each puppy, but it starts even earlier than birth. I set my puppies up for success by carefully selecting the parents of each litter, keeping in mind factors such as health, temperament, courage, trainability, and intelligence.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black and rust and red and rust. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
