I'm Richard P., the breeder behind RL Phillips Shihtzus located in Mineola, TX. Our dogs have proven to be the greatest companions to our family. We started breeding to contribute to breed betterment and to share smart and loveable puppies with other families.

  • What makes your program special?

    My wife and I have our 2 females and 1 male and they all stay in the house with us, they are family and all the pups are kept in the house not out in a kennel where they may not get the interaction with humans l, we handle the pups daily to ensure they are ready to be your furever companions.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include chocolate, liver, gold, red and white, and gold and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Puppy prices include a $400 non-refundable deposit and between $1,100 - $1,400 final payment, before taxes & fees.

    A plus experience with the Phillips. I have been involved with companion animals all my life. I have purchased on line previously and been fortunate to receive exactly what was presented. I know that is not the experience for everyone. Fair price, quality, loved, healthy babies sold by honest breeders is not always easy to find. Be assured, this is an honest breeder with quality babies. Before purchasing my handsome boy I did visit two breeders in my area. Some of the show breeders have nice babies but let's face it, they deserve their price for champion stock but many of us cannot pay that price. So I did not visit them. The two I did had so many red flags I could not purchase from them. Not to say the babies were not "cute" but the answers to questions showed lack of knowledge or in one case, actual deception. So again, I found this breeder exceptional and I wish you the best in your search for the right puppy for your family.

    I can’t express how grateful we are for our experience with the Phillips' . From our very first interaction, they were incredibly responsive, answering all our questions promptly and thoroughly.     Richard & Joy were a real pleasure to work with. They were very quick to respond when we had questions or just wanted more pictures of our sweet girl before picking her up. Richard & Joy’s puppies have the best temperament I’ve ever seen in a puppy. Our little Emmie is so laid back, but smart as a whip. She sleeps all night and goes potty outdoors already (at 9 weeks). She has been the best little addition to our family. If you’re contemplating getting a Shih Tzu puppy from Richard & Joy, go for it. They were excellent to work with and the puppies are phenomenal. You won’t be disappointed!

    The Phillips’ were fantastic to work with. From the start they sent photos, answered questions, and kept us updated on our little guy Rocky (now Tater). When we arrived to pick him up, we were given some of Tater’s food, his blankie, shot records, and the guarantee. They were kind, knowledgeable, and you could tell they loved the puppies and their parents. We will definitely tell anyone looking for a a Shih Tzu that the Phillips are a class act.

    Mr & Ms Phillips was AWESOME from the beginning to the end of the process. I have never purchased a puppy online, but I am happy I did.
