Meet the breeder

I'm Katherine E., the breeder behind Romany Collies located in Washougal, WA. I select my breeding dogs based on their exceptional temperaments first and foremost. They live in our home as cherished family members. Each collie has their personality quirks that make them so lovable. I have learned over the years that temperament is STRONGLY inherited! In addition to temperament, I select for - biddability, intelligence, robust good health, physical qualities including overall structure, good bites, proper movement, etc., and of course beauty!

Q. & A. with Katherine

  • Why did you start breeding?

I have always been a "dog nerd" and knew I wanted to breed some day. I began breeding collies when I had small children and a farm with lots of different animals. I chose collies because they are so good with children and all living creatures. Plus all the pretty colors! I have never regretted my decision. My current dogs are the descendants of my wonderful first two collies, Storm and Dandy.
  • What makes your program special?

My dogs' temperaments set them apart. I have a really nice community of puppy buyers on my Facebook group, RomanyCollieTalk. Many of my buyers come to me for a second collie. I provide lifetime breeder support and I love to talk about collies.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies include smooth and rough coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include sable merle and white, sable and white, black white and tan, and blue merle white and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
