I'm Brandy Q., the breeder behind Rounvale located in Hartselle, AL. We've been raising Australian Shepherds since 2010 on our small family farm outside Hartselle. We don't breed for volume. Every puppy is raised as a part of the household, spending time in both the house and the pasture.

Why did you start breeding?
We bought a Miniature Australian Shepherd puppy, Gray, in 2010, and he became our little boy's best friend. We fell in love with Gray and with the breed. In 2019, we bought a farm. With all the extra space out in the country, we decided we had room for a few more Aussies around, so we researched responsible breeding, and brought Hawk into the family. It has grown from there.What makes your program special?
All our dogs live with the family and get the run of the farm. We run a small breeding program because we love the dogs. We focus on breeding Miniature Australian Shepherds who are good companions and good sport dogs.What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include blue merle, black tri, red tri, and red merle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?

After buyers complete the application and screening process, Brandy partners with them to find the best puppy match.
“Our puppies start out as members of our family, and we want to make the very best match we can. We match a puppy to a family when they are old enough to evaluate their personalities, starting at around 8 weeks. Some puppies are active, others just want to find a lap; we carefully evaluate to make sure that the puppies go home with the right family.”

Parent health testing
Excellent level

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Vet Wellness Exam
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Hereditary (Juvenile) Cataracts (HC; JC), PRA, Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRA-prcd), Multiple Drug Sensitivity (MDR1), DNA Disease Panel
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
