Meet the breeder

I'm Jody G., the breeder behind Royal Tea Shelties located in Bainbridge, NY. Having Shelties in our lives is such a blessing. We find so much fulfillment in providing that same companionship to other homes! We treat our dogs and puppies like family, and we give each pup all the loving care that we can to prepare them for their forever homes. We are proud of our program and look forward to helping you find your next furry family member! We can be found on FB or on royalteashelties web page.

Q. & A. with Jody

  • Why did you start breeding?

When beginning a search for my own first Sheltie, I found it extremely difficult to find a puppy that came from health tested parents and had that beautiful Sheltie expression that we all know and love. I finally found my girl, who has since become the foundation of my program. I have had the privilege of being mentored by a breeder of 40 years who is also an AKC judge, guiding me along the way.
  • What makes your program special?

I am a very small and focused program. My puppies are born and raised in my home. Each and every puppy is handled extensively, taught to accept grooming and exposed to all common household noises. They are moved to an enrichment pen at 3 weeks old that provides a safe and clean environment with a wide variety of toys and pieces of equipment to help encourage a confident and balanced temperament.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Excellent experience. Jody was very easy to work with and it is clear that our new puppy was well prepared for transitioning to a new home. We have named her Sophie and she is a sweetheart. She is already taking well to training and loves to play. She is also very social. We were somewhat surprised at how readily she takes to new people and animals. She’s as healthy as can be, eats well, and is making great progress with potty training.
