Meet the breeder

I'm Lyla M., the breeder behind Russias Royalty/Goldhaven Kennel located in Roberts, MT. Our dogs are bred for health and temperament with a focus on confirmation, athleticism and intelligence. We are dedicated to providing our families with wonderful, healthy family pets. Show dogs are available as well.

Q. & A. with Lyla

  • Why did you start breeding?

At an early age, I lost my dog to unnecessary health issues that could have been prevented by the breeder. I wanted to provide a healthy and solid temperament dog that could make a companion for any family member so they would not have to go through that very painful experience.
  • What makes your program special?

My first goal is to always create a healthy, solid temperament and conformationally correct companion for any family. I provide service/therapy dogs that have been tested to excel. Puppies can be started for families that want a head start on a puppy. Basic manners, crate trained and potty trained, socialization, obedience and can travel.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our Black Russian Terrier puppies are black. Bernese Mountain Dog puppies are black rust and white. Golden Retriever puppies are golden. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Lyla was great to work with. She is so knowledgeable on the Black Russian Terrier breed. She helped us make sure we had all the right things to welcome our new puppy home. We flew to meet Lyla in Montana and she made it so easy for us to get him home. She continues to be a great resource for us after we brought him home. We love our boy so very much. He is such a looker and a healthy well mannered boy. I would absolutely work with Lyla again, I highly recommend her.

I found out about Lyla of Russia's Royalty through another respected BRT (Black Russian Terrier) breeder's recommendation. In the BRT community, recommendations from reputable established breeders carry significant weight, and Lyla certainly lived up to the praise. Working with Lyla was exceptional from start to finish. She demonstrated all the qualities you want in a breeder: responsiveness, flexibility, and deep knowledge of the breed. What stood out was her careful attention to puppy placement - she genuinely cares about where her puppies end up and how they will be treated. The logistics of getting our puppy home were handled professionally. Lyla coordinated seamlessly with our air nanny, promptly providing all necessary health certificates and meeting at the airport for the flight. Throughout the entire process, she kept us updated with photos and was always available to answer our questions. Our puppy is thriving! In just 2.5 weeks with us, he has grown from 10 pounds to 21 pounds. He's developing into a handsome boy and consistently receives excellent reports from our veterinarian. We highly recommend Lyla and Russia's Royalty to anyone looking for a Black Russian Terrier puppy.
