I'm Madeline L., the breeder behind RVA Aussies located in Richmond, VA. I’ve loved Aussies since adopting my first mix at age 11. My dogs are family, and I raise puppies the same way- with love, hands-on care, and respect for this incredible breed. I’m committed to placing each puppy in a home that truly appreciates the Aussie spirit.

Why did you start breeding?
I’ve had Aussies my whole life, and they’ve shaped who I am. Their love, loyalty, and energy inspired me to start breeding responsibly so I can raise puppies with the same devotion. I want families to experience the incredible bond this breed offers.What makes your program special?
My dogs are my family, and I raise puppies with that same love and attention. I care deeply about ethical breeding and about placing Aussies in homes that truly understand the breed. My program is driven by passion, not volume. I want every puppy to become someone’s heart dog.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include blue merle and black tri-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?

Madeline has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.
Madeline partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 6 weeks old.

“The price includes a health guarantee, first vaccinations, deworming, early training and socialization, microchipping, and registration paperwork. Deposits are non-refundable. However, if a family’s situation changes, I try to offer reasonable alternatives when possible, based on availability.”

Litter update on 08 May •…Hi everyone! I am now accepting applications to reserve a puppy from the upcoming June 16 litter. We have a confirmed litter of 6 puppies. About Harvey Dent (Harvey)
Harvey is my sweet boy. He is a 2 year old blue merle with a split face (which is why he is harvey dent!). He is the sweetest and by far the smartest dog i’ve ever met. He is my shadow. Very kind, loving, energetic. A soft and loving soul. I’ve had him since he was a puppy and he has been a blessing in my life.

About Piper
Piper is my sweet tri girl. She is a 2 year old black tri with blue eyes. I adopted her at around 8 months. Piper is my loyal, loving girl. She is a complex soul, and I appreciate how deep she is. She is the sweetheart who loves cuddling and playing. She is protective but loves everyone. I love her!
Parent health testing

RVA Aussies reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Australian Shepherds.
Hip Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered), Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Eye Examination (rDVM, not registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Vet Wellness Exam
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Wisdom Panel, DNA Disease Panel
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

Madeline was very responsive and knowledgeable about the breed. She was also super great with pickup! I drove from upstate NY to Richmond, VA to pickup Bear. He was the last pup to get picked up, but Madeline made sure he was well taken care of until I could get there. She explained to me all of his paperwork and vaccines and even clipped his nails before we hit the road. She’s also followed up a few times in the months we’ve had Bear to just check in and see how he’s doing and see pictures of him!! :)

Madeline was a pleasure to work with from the start. She was in constant communication and answered all of my questions. She made me feel confident with my decision to bring Kodi (Gamble) home to join our family. I can’t recommend her enough.
