I'm Dianne M., the breeder behind Rycroft Labradors located in San Luis Obispo County, CA. I offer quality puppies for quality people. I have been involved in Labradors since 1982. My dogs are bred to the AKC written standard and are proven in the show ring. My dogs also excel in other venues such as personal gun dogs, scent/nose work, obedience, agility, barn hunt, canine good citizens, trick dog, and more! My breeding stock is health tested for the most common genetic disorders known in Labradors. I would be thrilled to introduce you to your next beloved companion!
Q. & A. with Dianne
Why did you start breeding?
In 1982, I acquired my first Labrador. He had the most amazing temperament of any dog I had had in my young years. He sold me on the breed. I got involved in 4-H and learned to train and show. I was hooked! Breeding followed a few years later after my leaders advised me to health test and encouraged breeding. I have learned a lot since then. I am happy with the quality I have today!
What makes your program special?
My program is special because first and foremost, I prioritize health. I strive to breed the healthiest dogs possible and test for common diseases known in the breed. I also place a special focus on temperament. I breed intelligent, low-key, sweet dogs. I love the feedback that I receive from puppy buyers. Breeding to the standard is very important to preserve the characteristics of the breed (Broadheads, strong/stocky build). I do not work with dilute-colored dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black, chocolate, and yellow. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.
