About Bari
Meet Bari! Bari is a total mommas girl and is always by my side. She is super happy and is always willing to try things. She is super versatile and competes in many sports. Her favorites are agility and dock diving. She has travelled throughout the country with me on many (and I mean many) trips for competitions. She is on litter number 3 and will be retired from breeding after this. She is a fantastic mom but I am really looking forward to having my sports dog back and competing almost every weekend in the summer. She is fully health tested (excellent hips, yay!). She is also a champion producer in UKC.
Great health testing
Dentition, OFA/CHIC DNA Repository, +4 more.
Parent health testing
Breeder-Reported Testing
Excellent level
Sage Brook Companions reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Australian Shepherds.
Hip Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered), Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Examination (rDVM, not registered with OFA), Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
DNA Disease Panel, Multiple Drug Sensitivity (MDR1)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
