Sassy Australian Shepherds

Susanna S.

Breeder of Australian Shepherds

Meet the breeder

I'm Susanna S., the breeder behind Sassy Australian Shepherds located in Eugene, OR. Very small breeder who raises dogs in my home and around the barn to expose them to livestock and a loving family environment. Our dogs are happy healthy and bred to do their assigned jobs, which can be a loving pet, an agility dog, or herding farm companion. Many can easily do all 3 or more!

Q. & A. with Susanna

  • Why did you start breeding?

I know that I am good at certain things. Genetics fascinates me and I see so many people who just want to buy a dog picking by color and sex at birth. Then I see so many half grown puppies up for adoption because the new owner cannot handle the cute puppy they brought home. I just love to help people get the right puppy for their lifestyle and watch their relationship grow together.
  • What makes your program special?

Small and selective. I do not sell puppies to new homes at birth no matter how many others do and how many people are "dying" to buy a certain puppy based on color and sex at birth or once they open their eyes. They have to wait and see if the disposition is what they need for their lifestyle. I am amazed and saddened by how many people now sell at birth so they get their money without considering energy level and temperament.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
