I'm Heather T., the breeder behind Setareh Yorkies located in Sunset, UT. Every puppy we raise is adored as part of our family from birth. Our puppies will complete your home, your family, and your heart! Our focus is on breeding healthy and happy puppies that can bring just as much joy to their families as our dogs do for us. We are very hands-on with our puppies and give them plenty of unconditional love and attention!
Q. & A. with Heather
Why did you start breeding?
I got into breeding originally because I raised Standard Poodles and Westies and saw a lack of health testing in the breeds. I wanted to have puppies that were healthy and could live a long life with their puppies. I now see that same problem with Yorkies, which is why I health test my parents prior to breeding them.
What makes your program special?
I feel that I have an outstanding program in that I do all available health tests on my breeding dogs. My goal as a breeder is to improve the breed not only in looks, but health and longevity as well. I feel that health testing provides a solid foundation for this.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include parti, blue and gold, and black and gold. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Parent health testing
Breeder-Reported Testing
Excellent level
Setareh Yorkies reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Yorkshire Terriers.
Hip Dysplasia (Preliminary)
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA), Legg-Calve-Perthes (OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
DNA Disease Panel
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
