I'm Trina V., the breeder behind Shadycove K9 located in Running Springs, CA. I have spent 30+ years training people and dogs. I retired from the service dog field where I oversaw the breeding, training, and raising of 300 puppies a year. My passion is to provide families with a wonderful family member that is healthy and enjoyable to live with.

Why did you start breeding?
I grew up in a show dog home. Have worked as a veterinarian technician for 30 years.What makes your program special?
Health, Temperament and well socialized puppies are our top priority. Puppies are raised in our living room and handled and socialized daily. Puppies come litter box trained and are pre-spoiled.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black and white, cream, red, gold sable, and black and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Price
"Health tested parents, puppies are microchipped, up to date on vaccines and deworming. Vet checked. All of our puppies are the same price. Deposits are non-refundable but can be transferred to another puppy for up to one calendar year if life happens, emergency etc. before the puppy is 7 weeks."

Parent health testing
Excellent level
Shadycove K9 reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Havanese.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
Dentition
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
DNA Disease Panel
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
