Meet the breeder

I'm Leaanna S., the breeder behind Shaffers low riding weiners located in New Castle, CO. All our puppies will have age-appropriate vaccines, be de-wormed, and have vet health checked before leaving home. All our dams and sires have amazing temperaments. Puppies are raised in family setting and will be introduced to other dogs, and animals as well as children.

Q. & A. with Leaanna

  • Why did you start breeding?

I was raised around dachshunds as a child. My mother was into breeding when I was very young. I have always owned a dachshund and took my passion to start helping create healthier puppies to share with other families.
  • What makes your program special?

I make sure all puppies leave here with 100 percent vet cleared, shots and pre spoiled. We spend so much time with every puppy to set each one up for success. It shows! We make sure to have our sire n dams health tested and vet checked. Our dogs health and safety mean more then anything to us.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies include smooth and longhaired coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include sable, piebald, cream, red, black, chocolate, brindle, black and tan, and chocolate and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Super late but here we are a year and a half after bringing our sweet Scarlett home and we are looking at Chloes latest litter and we are not even ready for a new addition yet! When the time comes we will absolutely return. They are amazing to work with and the puppies and parents were well cared for and obviously loved. So responsive and flexible. But she is such an amazing girl and we are so lucky to have her! 10/10 and we will be repeat clients!

Leaanna was incredible to work with! She was very responsive and provided tons of pictures and videos of our little guy while we waited to bring him home. She began to call him by the name we picked so by the time we got him home it was as if he already knew his name. She provided full vet records as well as everything we needed to know to make his transition go smoothly. Since he was socialized prior to coming home he fit in with our other two dogs. Leaanna was a joy to speak with and meet and we would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking to get a dachshund!

Shaffers Low Riding Weiners gave us a great first-time pet owner experience! They were easy to talk to and readily available for communication. They give frequent puppy updates on their Facebook page while you're waiting for your puppies to come home, and you get to see them play around with their siblings. Picking her up was super easy and Leanna gave us a folder of helpful documents and even some food to take home, she was great! Monti is enjoying her new home so far :)
