I'm Shannon B., the breeder behind Shans Down Home Doxies located in Hockley, TX. Breeding Dachshunds isn’t just a hobby—it’s a true passion and a way of life for me. What started as a love for their long bodies, loyal hearts, and spunky personalities quickly grew into a small, purposeful breeding program built on care, quality, and connection.
My program is intentionally small, which means every dog and puppy receives all the love, attention, and socialization they deserve. I believe in raising Dachshunds that are not only beautiful representations of the breed, but also happy, healthy, and ready to become lifelong companions.
Each litter is carefully planned with health, temperament, and breed standards in mind. All of my pups are raised right here in my home as part of the family. From the moment they’re born, puppies are surrounded by warmth, love, and the sights and sounds of daily life—giving them the best start possible.
Q. & A. with Shannon
Why did you start breeding?
I bought my first mini dachshund in 2015, fell in love with the breed and decided to get a female… The rest is pretty much history… I love the breed and I love dogs!
What makes your program special?
My breeding program is very small… I only have 6 breeding females (2 CKC and 4 AKC). I do it for the love of the breed, and to share the beautiful puppies that I am fortunate to have.
What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our puppies include smooth and longhaired coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include piebald, cream, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
