Meet the breeder

I'm Michele S., the breeder behind Shellyn’s Australian Shepherds located in Somonauk, IL. The foundation of our breeding program starts with raising healthy and well-loved dogs. We aim to pass the same happiness of owning a quality-bred dog to our buyers.

Q. & A. with Michele

  • Why did you start breeding?

I started breeding, training and showing collies in 1984. My three favorite breeds were always Collies, Dobermans and German shepherds. I dabbled in all three breeds. But after retiring from showing, I enjoyed camping with my corgis and horses, but always had a Aussie in the family. My husbands always had Aussies and when we got our second puppy together after his old one passed, I found my passion for training again with this smart fun breed.
  • What makes your program special?

My adults are our pets. They live in our home, not in a kennel. My goal from the puppy’s birth, is to create a routine to help the puppy make the adjustment into its new home.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our Australian Shepherd puppies include black and blue merle. Pembroke Welsh Corgi puppies include fawn, red, and black and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
