I'm Terry B., the breeder behind Shih Tzu Cottage located in Lake Worth, FL. I breed with a focus on health, temperament, and qualities that make for excellent family pets. I have personally owned shih tzu's for over 35 years. My dogs and puppies are lovingly raised in my home as part of my family so I can prepare them to be wonderful additions to yours.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    I had my first Shih Tzu over 35 years ago, and fell in love with the breed. I have a need to do my part as a responsible breeder and produce healthy, well-rounded pups. I am devoted to ensuring there are happy and healthy Shih Tzu for others to enjoy, and I do so by ethically growing this incredible breed.

  • What makes your program special?

    My dogs and puppies are my family, and they get the best care I can possibly provide. I do everything I can to ensure my puppies have what they need to develop into healthy and happy dogs. In my breeding program, good health and temperament are essential, and cuteness and love are guaranteed.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include tricolor, black and tan, chocolate, sable and white, sable, chocolate and tan, red and tan, cream and white, lilac, black, liver, blue, gold, red, silver, black gold and silver, black and white, black gold and white, black white and silver, liver and white, blue and white, brindle and white, gold and white, red and white, silver and white, silver gold and white, white, and brindle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Terry

Terry has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

After buyers complete the application and screening process, Terry partners with them to find the best puppy match.

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $1,300 - $2,300 final payment, before taxes & fees.

    Terry is the best!!! My little Cindy is so smart and sweet. She never misses the piddle pads and keeps herself entertained with the toys that Terry provided.     I had been working with Terry of Shih Tzu Cottage to find a female Shih Tzu puppy. Terry was very professional and caring during the entire process of me selecting Stella to picking her up and taking her home. He made sure he kept me up-to-date on Stella’s growth, daily activities, potty training and veterinary visits. Terry was always available and willing to answer any and all questions regarding Stella’s care. He would get back to me almost immediately on any concerns I had regarding Stella’s well being after taking her home. Stella is an extremely sweet well loved little girl thanks to the care she was provided from birth up to me taking her home.     I really wanted a boy shih tzu, but my mom was scammed a couple of years back so I was very nervous about giving a deposit down. I went to a ton of sites, spoke to some shady people and then I met Terry. He was extremely accommodating. Met him at his home. Already had all the papers ready for me. Had a goodie bag for my baby to go home with. Thoroughly explained what to give my vet and what to expect next. I was nervous since I have other shih tzus at my home and how they would be together. Should not have been since Terry has a pen in his home where his puppies were socializing. I met my babies mom and dad who were tail wagging happy dogs. My baby is curled up in my lap after a long day of playing with toys and meeting his fur siblings. Could not have been happier with the experience

    If you're wanting to share your life with a Shih Tzu, look no further. Our Tessa (Lucy) is the most precious, happy and healthy puppy. Just as Terry described, she is both playful and loving, and is trained to use her puppy pad to boot. We are crazy about our little sweetheart! We believe Terry is a knowledgeable breeder who cares deeply about his fur babies. He provided us with a complete vet record, important information and a tote bag filled with everything one would need to begin raising a puppy. We definitely had a positive experience with Terry.
