I'm Rebecca Y., the breeder behind Shining R Rough Collies located in Festus, MO. My dogs are farm-raised and have been exposed to horses and cattle with over 50 acres to run and play! I adore my dogs! My adult dogs are a part of my family and they have been genetically tested. I will not adopt out any adults once they’re retired, they will live out the rest of their lives with me on the farm. I strive for perfection in my puppies as well as keeping the traditional Collie breed traits.
Q. & A. with Rebecca
Why did you start breeding?
Growing up my parents raised Golden Retrievers and as they’re a great breed, I just knew there was an even greater breed out there. I was obsessed with the Rough Collie breed so when I moved away from home, I received my first Collie. I immediately knew they were the breed for me. There is truly nothing like a Collie and they’re underrated in today's society.
What makes your program special?
All of my puppies are cared for under my roof. They are started on crate training and litter box training at 4 weeks old until the time they leave me at 8-10 weeks old. I microchip each puppy and pay for their enrollments myself. They’re raised on a large farm so they’re exposed to many different smells and sounds. I strive to keep the herding instincts strong in the puppies I raise.
What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our puppies have rough coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black white and tan, sable merle and white, sable merle, sable and white, sable, blue merle, and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.
