Meet the breeder

I'm Cathy S., the breeder behind Shoebox Doxie’s located in Pace, FL. My dogs are all DNA tested and carefully selected to be in my breeding program. I am a strong believer that my dogs are my pets first! I treat them like family and all of our puppies are given lots of love and attention. I work hard at making sure they are very well socialized before going to their new homes. I live in a small town close to the beautiful city of Pensacola FL. All my puppies are AKC registered, dewormed, vet checked and given health certificates before they go to their forever home.

Q. & A. with Cathy

  • Why did you start breeding?

I breed my first dachshunds about 18 years ago and only had 3 litter with my one female and then about 10 years ago I saw the cream dachshunds and started my search for a good breeder. When I found one and got my first cream male the breeder and I became close friend and she became my mentor and helped me to start my own program. I have done all I can to research and make sure that I am improving the breed as I breed my dogs.
  • What makes your program special?

I have made sure to select the best dogs that I can and fully DNA tested all of them so that I make sure that I am doing the best I can to improve the breed. I have my dog’s vet checked regularly and make sure they are in good health before I ever breed them! All of my dogs are my pets and are never caged. They have the run of the house and fenced in back yard. They are the best bed buddies as well!
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies have longhaired coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include cream, black and cream, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and guardian homes.
