All our dogs are registered in AKC, but may also be registered in ABCA, and UKC as well. All of our dogs come from genetic tested and OFA tested lines. AMO got her OFAs done and I am very pleased with her results!

Dana R.
Amo got her Trick Dog Intermediate, Trick Dog Advanced, and Canine Good Citizen Advanced title today!

Dana R.
One NQ and One first place Q, meaning we get our first UKC Title on AMO!!

Dana R.
Today we competed in obedience, Amo was so good! We haven't had a lot of heeling practice recently, so that was a little bit rusty, as the past few weeks have been extremely hectic, but she kept her composure very well, and nailed everything else!

Dana R.
After a very uneventful summer competition wise, we are finally back! Between Amo going into season and also the unbearable heat and air quality Wisconsin suffered, we really put a lot of our activities on a back burner, we will bounce back quickly, but it is a shame that a lot of our goals for this year seem to be less attainable. However, we are finally back with fast cat! We did not have the fastest runs ever, but they were very consistent, and she was delighted to be back at it!

Dana R.
Amo and I did one last competition before she came into season on 7-13-25 we did our fair's Strut your Mutt competition and won best dressed and best tricks! Amo will not be having puppies this time around because we still have more health tests to be done, and I would like to get more titles on her to represent her better!

Dana R.
On May 31st Amo and I got many agility Qs and a new title!

Dana R.
Two recent agility run thrus featuring AMO💜

Dana R.
This weekend Amo had her first fastcat competition of the year! She did well, the first run was 25 mph, and the second run was a high 27 mph, her first one was slower, because the track was quite boggy and I believe she was getting used to the footing, but by the second run she was right back to where I am used to having her be speed wise!

Dana R.
AMO got her AKC Fetch Intermediate Title, so proud of this little girl💜

Border Collie
About Amo
Amo is registered through ABCA, AKC, and UKC. She currently competes in agility, obedience, rally, and FastCat. She is one of my demo dogs for classes. She has a great work ethic, but also an excellent off switch at home. Puppies are expected to have similar traits, meaning as long as their mental and physical needs are met, they should not have a problem settling, once they grow up. She's soft enough to accept a gentle correction, but will push through uncomfortable situations without shutting down. Also extremely cuddly and affectionate, with excellent handler focus. She will work for anyone, not just myself.
Great health testing
Excellent level
Shooting Star Border Collies reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Border Collies.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Early Adult Onset Deafness (EAOD), DNA Disease Panel
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
