I'm Wendy M., the breeder behind Short n Sassy Dachshunds of AZ located in Casa Grande, AZ. Our dogs are carefully paired with attention to health and temperament of each parent, while trying to maintain the general characteristics / integrity of the breed. We raise AKC & CKC registered dogs. All of our dogs are housed indoors and an active part of our family.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    Dachshunds have been a part of my family for over 30 years. One of my last dachshunds I had before I started breeding had multiple health issues at a fairly young age and eventually passed away due to poor breeding. After that, I decided to educate myself, reach out to other breeders, and learn all I could to produce healthy well adjusted puppies focusing on heath, temperament and maintaining integrity of the breed to share with other families.

  • What makes your program special?

    My program is a family affair. All of my adult kids are involved in one capacity or another. Once puppies are weened they are moved to a central location in the home where they are a part of the family. They get lots of hands on and socialization. As neonates they are exposed to ENS & ESI daily. We are always looking for add’l training development techniques to create confident, well adjusted, socialized puppies.

  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

    Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

    Our puppies include smooth and longhaired coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include piebald, cream, red, brindle, chocolate and tan, chocolate and cream, black and tan, black and cream, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
