I'm Lizzy B., the breeder behind Short Stuff Doxies located in Castalia, NC. Our dachshunds are part of our family and are raised in our home as part of the family. Our puppies enjoy daily interaction with our 4 young children. We also have a sheep dog, cats, and farm animals they will be introduced to before going to their new homes giving them a well-rounded socialization.
Q. & A. with Lizzy
Why did you start breeding?
I have liked Dachshunds since I was young, but it wasn't until my 2nd year of marriage that my husband adopted our first dachshund baby. I have fallen in love with the breed and do regular research on everything dachshund. True to the saying, "You can never have just one dachshund", it wasn't long before we had another sweet little one. I started breeding to share my love of the breed with family.
What makes your program special?
All our puppies are pampered and spoiled daily. My children enjoy interacting with them and they have no shortage of pets and snuggles throughout the day. Our pups live in our home as part of our family.
What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our puppies have longhaired coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include piebald, chocolate and tan, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Working with Lizzy was a really great experience! She was very patient with all my questions and responded super fast. She personally hand delivered my baby right on time. My puppy is happy, healthy and BEAUTIFUL! This isn’t my first time working with a breeder and I must say lizzy was top notch!
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
