Silver Spoon Aussies

Sonja G.

Breeder of Australian Shepherds

Meet the breeder

I'm Sonja G., the breeder behind Silver Spoon Aussies located in Garrattsville, NY. I focus on health, temperament, sound structure, and working ability. My dogs perform the work the breed was originally developed for-all around farm dog. It’s important to me to preserve that working ability as there is still an important place for the working Aussie on today’s farm.

Q. & A. with Sonja

  • Why did you start breeding?

I wanted to do my part to better the breed. My breeding program strives to maintain the unique characteristics of the breed while placing an emphasis on producing Australian Shepherds of superior health, temperament, and conformation. I thoroughly enjoy raising a litter of puppies and watching them develop into amazing working dogs and beloved family pets.
  • What makes your program special?

My program is special because of my dogs. Australian Shepherds are such a joy, and I find so much fulfillment in raising and preparing them for their loving, forever homes. I focus on breeding and raising Aussies for their original purpose-the all around farm dog. Placing my dogs in homes that can fulfill that innate ability is a high priority for me.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
