I'm Sonja G., the breeder behind Silver Spoon Aussies located in Garrattsville, NY. I focus on health, temperament, sound structure, and working ability. My dogs perform the work the breed was originally developed for-all around farm dog. It’s important to me to preserve that working ability as there is still an important place for the working Aussie on today’s farm.

About Rhythm
I'm so excited to watch this little dog come into her own. She loves the idea of working stock - now we need to add control! She will hit heads and heels, and is showing a nice low bite on heels. She entered her first rally trial at 11 months old and came away with two qualifying runs. Hoping to finish her rally novice title this year. We've started agility foundations and that looks promising too - no plans to really trial her for another year but it's going to be lots of fun getting to that point! She will meet and greet people but prefers staying with people she knows versus soliciting attention from strangers.

About Reese
Reese is becoming a nice little chore dog. She absolutely loves working the ducks. With the cows, she prefers hitting heads over heels, but will hit heels when asked. The biggest thing I've had to work with her is building confidence with moving cattle. She uses her bark well and not in excess. She loves rally, we're working towards her novice rally title, and she's earned her novice agility titles in ASCA. Lovely temperament around people - loves kids and loves my grandma.

Great level
Silver Spoon Aussies reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Australian Shepherds.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A), Collie Eye Anomaly (CEA), Multiple Drug Sensitivity (MDR1)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
